INDIANS BEAT CRAIGEN- GOWER.

CHAMPIONS DRAW WITH THE REST.

There was only one league match over the week-end, and in this the Indian Recreation Club comfort- ably accounted for Craigengower Cricket Club at Sookunpoo. Quite · a number of friendlies, however, were played, and these included the winners (K.C.C.. Rest) match, which resulted in a draw. "

These old fivals met at Sookun- poo and once again the Indians romped home winners by the com- fortable margin of es nuns.

The home team batted first but started very badly, two wickets falling before the ten was, höisted. Then AbdulCurreem collected 25 rapidly and, with Madar playing steady cricket for 33 runs, the aituation izaproved somewhat However, it was left to a fine last wicket stand by Iraní (97), and Ismail (23, not out) to pave the way to victory for the Indians. O the four bowlers tried by Craigen- Rower Cricket Club, only Sourbutts (2 for 11) appeared to worry the Indians.

Craigengower started none too well, but things took a turn when Zimmern was dropped before he scored. He had a few lives for his half-century.

For the Indians, Minu took 4 for 48, Irani 3 for 22 and Abdul- Chirrem 2 for 20.

ROWLES WINS BELT; FIGHT FANS JEER.

TWO VERY LOW PUNCHES HURT-MARINE SMITH,

The battle between A.B. Rowles, FI..S. Marazion, and Marine Smith, H..S. Hermes, for the Heavyweight Championship of the Colony and Belt which was sche- duled to go 13 rounds on Saturday. night was brought to a sensational end in the third round, when Smith was doored for the full count."

During the course of the short three rounds, Smith was floored twice before taking the full count by blows which appeared extremely low. The audience were loud a their protests, and when A.B. Rowles stepped forward to receive the Belt from Rear-Admiral R. A S. Hill, he was greeted with ap plause from one part of the house, while the others were "beaing" loud and long. Some of the fans actually left the theatre before the while presentation took place, those that remained did not hesi tate to voice their disagreement with the referee's decision.

The Tight.

The scrap opened with Smith connecting a crisp right to the point, after, which there was a mix-up in the centre of the ring, with Rowles getting in a couple of good punches.

For a time that followed, the men.aparred cautiously and then fell into a clinch, Ther Smith was driven to the ropes and during some in-fighting, he received ä nasty blow rather low down, and for some considerable time "he wa in apparent agony. The rong went with the men in the centre of the ring

Smith did not appear to have got over the effects of the blow he received in the first round when the second started. However, be fought gamely and one or two of his punches rather worried Rowics Towards the end, another doubtful panch again floored him and it was then that the referee stepped into the ring, but it was too late, as the damage had already been donc. The fans protested loudly against Rowles, and although very much in distress, Smith carried on gamely

The third round started with Smith still in trouble with those punches he received, and knowing that his opponent was still in dis- tress. Rowles handed a clip to the jaw to put him down for the fall count,
