Discoveries by police in an alleg. ed opium den in Limehouse led to the appearance of a middle-aged white woman and a Chinese man at the Thames Police Court last month,

The man, Yen La Ung, was accused of possessing opium and opium smoking utensils and having a pistol without a permit, and the woman, Elizabeth Cheq, was accus- ed of allowing premises in Silver Lion-court. E., to be used for opium smoking.

They were remanded on bail.

Lipton's America Cup challenger, Shamrock Y. which is being built at Camper and Nicholson's yard at Gosport, has announced that the vessel, which has been planked up and is having her decks laid will be ready for launching on Monday, April 14. The christening ceremony will be performed by Lady Shaftesbury. There will be a big gathering of yachtsmen on the occasion.
