H.K. CRICKET CLUB LOSE UNBEATEN RECORD,

The surprise of the week-end was the defeat of the Hong Kong Cricket Club second eleven by the Kowloon Cricket Club seconds on the HK.C.C. ground. The former, hitherto unbeaten, and favourites for junior league honours were ex- pected to take full points from Kowloon, but they failed dismally against the bowling of the veteran George Lee and F. S. W. Smith, who, incidentally, also collected 78 runs in great style.

Faced with this big total, the B.K.C.C. men failed against the bowling of Lee (4 for 96) and Smith (0 for 37), Armstrong, who made 21 runs, and Mackenzie (16) were the only batsman to make a showing.

Visiting their neighbours, the Craigengower Cricket Club, Civil Service juniora came away with full points. The home team batted frat and were all dismissed for 117 runs. F. R. Zimmern played well for 30 runs, and Y, Abbas made 33. The wickets were enly shared be- tween the C.S.C.C. sowleri.

B. S. W. Paters, opening the innings for his side, collected 42 in fine style while Harper played well for 25. They were 138 for 6 wickets when stumps were drawn.

Playing at home, the University lost to the Civil Service Cricket Club by the narrow margin of 14

rung.

The visitors had first knock and were given a good start by de Rome (21) and Richardson (38), Useful contributions of 97 by MacDougall and 2 by Barrow helped to bring the total to 148 runs.

For the University Samy took 3 wickets for 14 runs and Anderson had 4 for 31.

The undergratuates started none. too well but recovered later and went on to make 135 hung

Guterres was top-scorer with 36, while Osman and Lee had 20 each

and Baker 18, not out.

Reed took 5 wickets for 68 runs for the Civil Service C.C. and -Hamilton captured 3 for 18.

For the Police Alexander took 4 wickets for: 25 runs. Thomson 2 for nothing and B. G. Baker 2 for 25.
