SOME OTHER SELECTIONS,

The principal event to-day is The Hong Kong Derby, the third race on the card, which will be run shortly after 1 p.m.

Wisdom Stag

A contender who has to be seri- ously considered is Wisdom Stag, who won so easily on Saturday last from a good bunch of griffins. He will be ridden by Mr. Quincey. If Wisdom Stag, takes to his work honestly he will be a "at the death.

The Maiden's Winner. King's Bounty, who won the Maideas in glorious fashion, may go to the post, seeing that he was held over yesterday. If he does, he is going to have a large follow ing and might secure a place, but The winner of The Trial Plate, good though his performance was Peppermint, is sure to get a good in the Maidens, I don't think he dent of support and is a certain will account for the Derby, though starter, In view of Peppermint's. I would not go eo far as to say time of 9.34.2 in the Trials yester- that he will not be prominent. day, his time for the mile and a half ought to be inside 3.10, in which case Peppermint, as a mathe- matical proposition-backed by the stop-watch-is the soundest bet. There is no fear of the pony spoil ing his chances by running away at the start, for, as I have said all along this pony is "alugger," and as he can stay and has proved yesterday that he can finish well, his chances are extremely rosy, but for the presence of Diana Bay...

Diana Bay.

This great mare of Mr. Dunbar is such a good thing for the Derby that she has been reserved" for the event it being feared that an earlier race might interfere with the pony's chances, as she is known to have a delicate leg which had only recently been righted. Mr. Hill, who has yet to win his first race this season, will be on the saddle, and it seems as if he will break the duck" here. Sitting Bull.

As regards the remaining races. bere is a sure "tip.". Sitting Bull must qualify for the Champions and must do so to-day Back him wherever he starts! Adam also mat atone for his failure on the first and second days' racing, and if he does not meet Sitting Bull, he j is worth backing.

Subs Challenge Cup.

In view of his fine performance yesterday, I have tipped Tango, Bridge Hall and Done Again to be placed in this event. They appear to be the best. subs" of the seaBOD.

› Boxing Eve.

יו

There is a race made for this pony, so look out for him where I have tipped him.

Royal Navy Oup.

The Pheasant, after his fine win co Saturday, ought to win the Royal Navy Cap in spite of his 7 pounds "extra," King's Falloch may prove to be the surprise here, although I think The Ape will be better placed than him in the end.

The Gymkhana Stakes. The Gymkhana Stakes, with Majestic

Hall and Drike of Chantilly barred, should prove to be one of the best races on the card, and because of his light weight I hare tipped Monterey Bay to win Readers, however. should bear Christmas Chimes in mind, as he is exceptionally fit./
