Definition of TRAVELLERS OH EQUES-

The system of Travellers' Cheques was originated in 1801 by the American Express Company with the object of creating a fortn of travel currency which would give the holder the security of a letter of credit and at the same time the convenience of local currency. The Company registered the cheques under the trade name of AMERICAN EXPRESS TRAVELERS' CHEQUES' the word Travellers' being spelled with ons "1", The advantage of the Cheques was so apparent that other banking institutions adopted the system."','
