WHO WILL WIN THE VALLEY STAKES?

[BY MORNING DEW."]

The subscription griffins of this season, on the whole, are not so good as those imported last year, and I am of opinion that whenever the new and old subs meet, those of 1929 or 1929 will I can sce carry the day in spite of penalties and allowances. no animal among this year's performers to equal ponies like The Pheasant, King's 'Falloch, The Ape,. of last season, or Q-Moon, Dumfries, and other good subs of the 1929 season.

The best ponies of this season lavo shown us very little during training performances, there having been hardly a convincing gallop to date.

Some of the most prominent ponies have had to lay up during the training, as in the case of Peashop, Grenadier and Martini Cocktail. All of them, I understand, will be able to start, but, there is little chance of these animals giving of their best at the Annual Meeting.

with this, but Grundier has shown promise from the day his training got commenced, and when ho

crocked there was much disap- pointment among his connections. It Grenadier does not win anything at the big meeting, he will be the outstanding sub of the "Extra" acason.
