Definition of TRAVELLERS' CHEQUES—

"The system of Travellers' Choques was originated in 1901 by the American Express Company with the object of creating a form of travel currency which would give the holder the security of latter of credit and at the same time the convenience of local currency. The Company registered the cheques under the trade "name of AMERICAN EXPRESS TRAVELERS' CHEQUES?', the word "Travellers' being spelled with one "I". The ad antaga of the Cheques was so apparent that other banking institutions adopted the systown."
