The system of Travellery Cheyum was "originated in T-1her the American Exprem Company with the object of creating a form of travel currency which would give the bolder the security of a.. letter of credit and at the same time the convenience of Joval currency. The Company registered the cheques under the trade name of AMERICAN EXPRESS TRAVELERS' CHEQUES the word "Travellers being spelled with one "]" The adɔantage of the Cheques was so apparent that other banking institutions adopted "the system.”
