Definition of TRAVELLERS' OHEQUES—

"The system of Travellers' Cheques was originated in 1891 by the American Express Company with the object of creating a form of travel ourrency which would give the bolder the security of a jetter of credit and at the same time the convenience of local currency. The Company registered the cheques under the trade. name of AMERICAN EXPRESS TRAVELERS' CHEQUES the word "Travellers' being spelled with one "1". The ad antage of the Cheques was so apparent that' other banking institutions adopted the system."
