A gallant resistance-by-Canton_troups_appears to have been completely successful and a big offensive launched against Canton on Tuesday by "the"" Ironsides" has been repulsed.
THE HONG KONG DAILY PRESS, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 1929.
An initial success carried the invaders as far as San Yuen, five miles from the suburbs of Canton, but the sudden arrival of'. two fresh regiments, of troops in lorries and motor buses tumed the scales and the wearied attackers were driven back.
