FIRST ROUND OF THE F.A. CUP MATCHES.
THIRD DIVISION TEAMS TAKE THE FIELD,
SEVEN DRAWN GAMES.
Third Division League teams were engaged in the first round of the English Cup matches on Saturday. Seven matches were drawn including the meeting of Gainsborough Trinity and Port Yale which produced no goals. Darlington, Hartlepools, and Merthyr were among those who were beaten by outside teams, the net named falling to Leyton, who headed the Athenian League last
season.
In División I. of the English League, eine goals were segred at Everton and Leicester City took the points on the odd goal. Oldham Athletic, in the Second Division, collapsed at Cardiff where five goals were scored against them. Blackpool just managed to take the points to displace Oldham from the top position.
Scottish League matches provided many surprises in the num- her of drawn matches. The Rangers were on this list as Morton, at home, scored two goals against them to snatch one point.
