MISS DAISY
O'KEEFE'S PUPILS.
DANCING DISPLAY AT THEATRE ROYAL.
The annual dancing displays given by the pupils of two local dancing Miss Daisy schools, those of O'Keefe and of Miss Violet Capell; are always well patronised and have become popular features of the winter season of Hong Kong. Else, where such displays often attract no ene beyond the parents of the per formers and their success here speaks much for the skill of these two ladies, not only as teachers of dancing, but as stage manageresses.: Not the least pleasing aspect of the two displays is that each has its
own individuality and Misa O'Keefe has a happy knack of presenting her pupils, as a school, reserving for her quite senior dancers the int seul of pas de deux dances.

MID-WEEK REPORT.
Messrs. Harry D. Odell & Co., sharebrokers, report as follows:-
Although the volume of business. transacted during the period. under review has been slightly smaller than that of the previous two weeks, the market, on the whole, continued firm.
One of the features of the week's
trading has been in China Lights which, at the close, appreciated to a new high level..
Banks.-Were dealt in at $1,350, and at this rate there are further buyers.
Unions-Gradually recedal from $319 to $309 sellers..
Hong Kong Fires-Are in request.

The first item on the programme yesterday was a good example of her method. The curtain rose on a mehool for ballet dancing. Ono saw the pupils practising at the bar under the supervision of their ten Centon Insurance. All the movements were atage: based on the Espinosa method. A study Rythmn by four senior pupils was a pattern of graceful
movement.
Among the solo or duc dances was the flirtation waltz, very clever- ly performed by Tamanz Ellis and Charles Gray, the tango given by B Peatonji and G. Yee, the apache dance of Nellie Field and C. Gray, and the valse caprice of B. Pestonji and M. George. Each of these was pleasing and gained much applause
from the audience.

see children doing this dance, but are seldom accorded the privilege of seeing it performed with true nautical pre- cision.
The ensemble dances were pretty especially the saal. ballet and the "Children's Corner." The latter, in which fourteen quite small child ren took part, was a happy expres- sion of childhood and very ably carried through by the young pers formers, Quite unusual again was the ensemble of Oriental Dances undertaken by the elder pupils. The dresses and stage decorations are deserving of high praise and the dancing was particularly graceful.
Miss O'Keefe has reason to be proud of her pupils and they of their teacher. Between them they have staged a very pleasing display with which every one who visited the Theatre Royal yesterday was well satisfied. The performance will be given. again on Saturday at 9.15 p.m, and part of the proceeds of both occasions are to go to local charities.
