The Chinese Athletic Association's sports at North Point which commenced on Friday were carried on over the week-end and enjoyed very satisfactory support from all sections of the com munity, particularly the Chinese.

The athletics at the North Point Stadium maintained a high standard and the smoothness with which the programme was carried out reflects great credit on those responsible for the organisation.

On Saturday afternoon, there was not a dull moment at the stadium. Several events were staged simultaneously. Chinese boxing, the lias dance, volley ball and basket ball being held during the less exciting field events. The volley ball match proved to be a hard fight between two good sides.

The arrangements for the swimming events were equally satisfactory and the programmes both on Saturday and Sunday were eagerly followed by a large number of spectators. The details of the ayinaning events given below show that Singapore's contingent proved too good for the local Chinese,

The Y.R.C. and the Kowloon Swimming Club met in an interesting water polo match last night, in one of the heats.

BAN ON GREY- HOUNDS.

ORDER BY NANKING.

IMMEDIATE ENFORCEMENT BY THE CUSTOMS.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 3. An order forbidding the int- portation of greyhounds into China has been issued by the Na- tional Government and we under- stand that it will immediately be into force through the Maritime Customs..

Rumours of such a step have been current for some time, fol. lowing the prolonged agitation against greyhound racing in the International Settlement and the French Concession, and the repeat ed protests of local oficial bodies. It is contended that greyhound which is against the laws of China. Since the greyhound courses are inside foreign settlements and con- ccasions and are being operated

Fung Kwek Wah, whe is a school boy, won the 400 metres race in 59.1-5 seconds.

The best race of the afternoon was the 300 metres Open Relay Race which attracted five entrants. these being the Volunteers, the Club de. Recreio, the K.O.S.B., the Kowloon Central School past pupils and the Chinese A.A.

Wong Mau Yuen, the Singapore

"star," won the 50 metres race in 28.1-3 seconds, and another Singa. pore swimmer, Chan Fung Sing won the 400 metres free style. The 100 yards back strokes went to S. H. Wong of the Singapore team.

Li Chi Hing of Hong Kong won the 200 metres breast stroke and was the only local swimmer wie won."

The irritation team race drew only two teams, the Club de Re- creio and the V.R.C., and resulted in a win by 20 metres for V.R.C. who covered the 200 metres in 3 minutes 2.1-5 seconds. The absence of the Singapore swimmers created some surprise,

Inquiries at the various grey- hound racing clubs resulted in the information that no important batches of greyhounds are just. now on their way or have been purchased for shipment out here, and the loss to the clubs will thus be, only slight at frat. It was stated by one club that they al ready had a sufficient number of greyhounds to continue operating for some time without trouble.
