CANAL DIVER'S EARNINGS
NEAR THE ZOO.
"As much as 38. 6d. a day, cau be made by these divers," said a canal company's policeman "at Marylebone Police Court when three youths were accused of bath- ing near the Zoological Gardens.
The policeman said that there had. been numerous deaths from drown- ing and also complaints of the way
which the bathers undressed. The youths were near the bridge entrance to the Zoological Gardens. Mr. Medd, magistrate: What beasts are near caough to see them People do not linger there, do they d The policeman: Tea Hundreds do so to see these lada swimming.
He added that so many people stood on the bridge watching the bathers that there was a danger that it would collapse. People threw coppers into the canal, and the bathers dived in to recover them. Two of the youths were fined 25. 6d. cach, and the other was fined

The s.. Tin Yat, which arrived here last week, will probably change ownership and dag and may be put on the Kangmoon run under the British flag. The vessel was commandered by the Canton Authorities during the war with Kwangsi.
