Definition of TRAVELLERS' CHEQUES—

"The system of "Travellers' Cheques was originated in 1991 by the American Express Company with the object of creating a form. of travel currency which would give the bolder the security of letter of credit and at the same time the convenience of local currency. The Company registered the cheques under the trade name of AMERICAN EXPRESS TRAVELERS' CHEQUES' the word Travellers' being spelled with ons "1". The advantage of the Cheques was so apparent that other banking institutionk adopted the system."
