mining unemployment stated that there were at present two hundred plants trying out methods of low carbonisation of coal, thus trying to find a new market. The Government anticipated that it would reduce unemployment in the mining areas during the next six months by 45,000 by a scheme of transference of miners elsewhere in Britain. Oct. 15th. Two girls and three men were' killed by a terrific explosion at the Expicsive and Chemical Products, Ltd., Bramble Island, two miles from Great Oakley.
They were working together in the mixing shed of the factory, as they have done for the last two J'ears,

Everything was in confusion. Men and women screamed and rushed from the sheds, which were still shaking with the concussion, and looked in bewilderment towards the mixing shed.
