LOCAL IMPORTS & THROUGH FREIGHTS VERY GOOD.

TEN BRITISH ARRIVALS.

Twenty arrivals and nineteen departures were shown for the hours ended at 9 am, yesterday, and there was a substantial increase for both the local imports and through freights Returna under the two headings in each case totalled

Ten over 20,000 tons. British arrivals and five departures. made heavy contributions to the

returns.

Fifteer vessels discharged 4,325 tons of general merchandise for this port of which 6,314 tons were coa- tributed by five British ships. The 5.3. Taion (British) from Seattle (Washington) and Miike showed the best return with 5,000 tons of general cargo, followed by the 3.5. Zaiyatau aru (Japanese) with 4,498 tons of coal from Miike.

Through freights carried by eleven vessels amounted to 23,235 tons. Of this amount 16,077 toas were carried by sight British ves sels. The best carrier was the s.5 Pembrokeshire (British) from Lon don and Singapore with 6,000 tons of general cargo. The s.s. Esquilino (Italian) from Trieste and Singa pore carried 4,605 tons.
