The first boxing tournament' of the season held under the auspices of the Hong Kong Boxing Association on Saturday night at the Theatre Royal was a very real success. There was : plenty of clean hard fighting, and some very good exhibitions of
clever boxing.
The only knock-out was administered by Big Morris to ́ Marine Fraser in the fath round of the big fight of the sveding. " The fight was to go. Eften rounds, but as I had predicted, Fraser was no match for Morris. He is now the double champion-Mid- dleweight and Welterweight of the Colony,"
Harry Major's return to the ring" was a success. Ho beat Vabey, and his form appeared to be better than evec.
Shoni, who is a very placky Aghter, sadly disappointed his supporters. He lost to Castle and for that he had no bné bat · himself to blame. Castle cannot be mid to be a better man than Shons, but the latter was over-confident. He did very little fighting and only towards the end, when he realised that he was hopelessly in arrears and tried to catch up on points, but it was too late.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT.
MORRIS KNOCKS OUT FRASER.
In the fight for the welter-weight championship of the Colony, Marine Fruits of H.M.S. Tamer, scaling at 143 lbs, met Signalman Morris of H.M.S. Magnolia, also of the same weight in the big Aght
of the evening.
This bout was scheduled for 15 rounds, but Morris disposed of his opponent in the tenth round. Fraser at no éstage of the Eight Took- ed like winning and was out-ofessed from start to finish.
Then was not much fighting in the first round and in the second. Fraser was forcing the fight and had Morris against the topes and scoring with two heavy upward awings. The round ended with Fraser slightly in the lead.
In the third round, Fraser was again on the aggressive, but Morris put up a splendid defence and re- tumed to his seat with the round in his favour.
Breaking out in the next round Morris got home a stinging right Crossing to Kowloon, the Royal Nary 2nd XI. defeated the Club de Fraser made a plucky effort in the ១៦ and several body punches.
