CRICKET.

MR. HANCOCK'S XL # MR. A. W. HAYWARD'S XI.

The Hong Kong C.C. ars opening their season with an interesting two- day match between teams captained respectively by Mr. R. Hancock and Mr. A. W Hayward,

Winning the toss, on Saturday, Mr. Hancock took first innings but his side fared very badly against the bowling of Bonuar, and Parker. Bowker saved matters with his 41, not out, and Musson and Stanion also put up useful performances.

Mr. Hayward's team started well enough, but after the captain left though Moor continued to play well the slows of C. D. Wales proved tog much for the rest of the side and six wickets went down for 02 runs.

. SOUTH CHINA ATH, The Club put up a gallant fight "against South China Ath. but were deservedly beaten." As predicted in our issue Saturday, the Queen's were good for the Navy, at Caroline

The Kowloon C.C. fielded a weak team against the Royal Navy on Saturday and were heavily defeat- ed.

C. Smith who made 13 runs was the only man to reach doubte Hill. The Navy started the ball figures for Kowloon who were dis-rolling and put up a very business missed for a small total of 38 runs.

POLICE R.C. t. UNIVERSITY 2nd XI. The only League match on Satur- day was between the Police R.C. and the University 2nd XI. in the 2nd Division. The game was on the Police ground and the home side

CHELSEA SUFFER THEIR FIRST DEFEAT.

RANGERS LEAD IN SCOTTISH LEAGUE.

CELTIC WIN GLASGOW CUP.

All teams in the English League were playing on Saturday. Burnley lost their lead in Division I., and Manchester City's double victories in the week gained them third position. In Division II., Chelsea dropped full points for the first time, but they still retain the lead. The leaders in both sections of Division III, maintained their positions.

In the Scottish League, the Rangers gained the top position by "defeating Third Lanark, who have been doing remarkably well since they entered Division I. by promotion Motherwell gained second place by defeating Aberdeen, the leaders. The Airdrieonians and. Hibernians played each other owing to their opponents' being engaged in the Glasgow Cup final and the latter won by two goals.

Celtic, who had already beaten Third Lanark in their semi- final replay, won the Glasgow Cup by defeating Queen's Park in the final.

CHAMPIONSHIP CANDI- DATES WIN.

SPEY CUP RESULTS,

The Club de Recreio "A" teata, and Taikoo, who are in the race for the championship of the junior lawn bowls League, both won.on: Saturday. Recreio's success gives them the leading place and they defeated, the Kowloor C.C. head. somely on two rinka. Recreio "B" did well against Taikoo, but had to admit defeat by a small margin. Craigengower, as expected, defeated the Bowling Green Club, one of the visiting rinks being badly beaten. The Yacht Club gained a victory over East Point by 30 shots.

On the Civil Service ground, Craigengower entered the semi-final of the Spey Cup competition by defeating Taikoö. The winners led all the way, the skip being the outstanding player and getting a the support he wanted from his team. Taikoo made a great effort towards the close by gaining the last three ends with six shots, but they were still three shots behind Craigengower have now to meet the winner of the East Point v. Yacht Club tie to decide the finalist ic the top half bracket.

Civil Service also qualified for the semi-final in the lower half bracket, by gaining comfortab.e victory over the Kowloon G.C. the same, afternoon 04 the bowling Green Club's ground. Their next opponents will be the winners of the Kowloon Docks . Club. de Recreio tie.

The Police were eliminated from the competition by the Kowloon Docks R.C.
