Local imports for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday were very low but through freights showed a slight increase on the previous day. Twelve arrivals and sixteen depar-Fiminale, Oct. 11th. tures were shown of which four Toronto, Oct. 13th.

Eight vessels brought. 5,225 tons of general merchandise for this port to which one British vessel the e.. Borneo contributed 500 tons. The two best carriers were the Kronviken (Norwegian) from Kee lung and Swatow with 2,000 tons of coal; and the s.. Harumatan Haru (Japanese) from Dairen with 1,343 tons of coal.

Through freights carried by five vessels amounted to 11,488 tons Three British vessels contributed 2,356 tons but the two best carriers. were, Japanese vessels.

The Shunka Maru from Yokohama and Moji had 5,833 tons of general cargo while the Harunasan Mary from Dairen had 2,490 tons of 'cèl.

Lying Ontaids Steamer, Two mistresses and a master of cargo junks were before Comdr, J. B. Nevill, R.N., D.B.Q., at the Marine Court yesterday morning for lying outside five other boats alongside the s.a. Takada while that ship was in midstream. All three defendants pleaded guilty to the offence and said that owing to the high wind and strong tide, they' were compelled to make fast for safety sake. They were each fined 83 with the alternative of five days' imprisonment with hard labour.
