[BY LONGSHOREMAN.] Three British vessels made their first visit to this port yesterday. They were thes. Tregonnelt, @renatula and Grelcaldy.
The Tregunnell ex Far Stay was built in 1918 by W. Doxford and Sons of Sunderland. Her en- gines were fitted by Messrs. D. Rowan & Company of Glasgow and ara of 500 N.H.P.

The S.S.Orentola”. Thee 8.5 Grentula is owned by the "Anglo-Colonial Shipping Com- pany of Cardiff and is registered at London as a British vessel. She is 3,549 tons and is engined to 817 N.H.P. Captain R. S. Hume ja master and her crew consists of:9 British and 35 Asiatics. The A.P.C. are the local agents for the vessel which brought 7,000 odd tons of oil fuel from San Pedro.
A British Ship Under Dutch Charter!
The s.s Grelcaldy a British vessel under Dutch charter, brought a cargo of 6,032 tons of sugar from Samarang and Pasuran. Messrs. Java-China-Japan Lijn are the local agents, while the ship's owners are Mesara Brewers Steamship Com paay of England. The vessel is 2,818 tons, gross. Captain W. Rees is in command and she has a British
crew of 35.
Carrying Military Stores. Three passenger boat owners were before Commander J. B. Newill, R.N., D.6.O., for breach of the conditions of their passenger boat licence. They were arrested while carrying military stores.
The accused said that they had been hired by a Chinese contractor to carry military goods from Yaumati to Murray Barracks..
It was stated that the good, were valued at 83,000 and consisted of flour, tinned meat, etc.
A fine of 810 was imposed on each of the defendants.

Nominal Fine For Year-and-a-Half' Old Offence. Captain Hendriksen, of the s.s. Hardrot was before the Marine Magistrate (Comdr. J. B. Newill, R.N., D.S.O.) at the Harbour Office yesterday, morning on two monses, namely, leaving the port of the Colony on April 12th, 1927, with

2 passengers in excess to the number stated by his clearance permit and giving false informa- tion when obtaining his Clearance Permit. The summons arose from report made by the Deputy Harbour Master of Sandakan.
The Captain pleaded not guilty and said that the trip in question was the first he had made on the coast, and that the ship was under a single trip charter to a local firm He noticed that the number of passengers seemed excessive, but he was told that was nothing out of the ordinary.
