YESTERDAY'S. FREIGHT RETURNS.

· GOOD IMPORTS, THROUGH FREIGHTS HIGH

SATISFACTORY BRITISH

FIGURES.

Although not as high as the previous day's returns the local imports and through cargoes were good. Fourteen arival, and twelve departures were shown during the 24 hours ended at 9 nm. yesterday of which six arrivals and seven departures were British vessels.

Eleven vessels discharged 10,947 tons of which 6,343 tons were con- tributed by six British ships. The beat returns were shown by the sa. Nagpore (British) with 2,849 toas of general merchandise from Rot terdam and Singapore; and the B. King Fuan (British) from Bang kok and Kosichang with 2,168 tone, Through freights were very good and amounted to 18,309 tons. There were eleven carriers of which five were British and carried 7,759 tons The two best returns were shown by the 1s. Celebes Maru (Japanese) with 4.650 tons of general cargo from Yokohama and Maji and the B.B. Nagpore (British) Rotterdam and Singapore.

A Japanese motor-boat which arrived here from Takau yesterday brought mine fishermen which she picked up from a sunken fahing boat in the vicinity of Kaptaze in Chinese Territory. It is stated that the agents of the motor-bost have very kindly agreed to return the fishermen to Kaptaze by the same motor-bost on her return trip to Takau.

Theft of Rope.

* TAZAKBA". The theft of 120 fathoms of rope,TALMA" valued at $120, from the 2.8." Chak- song has been reported to the police by the master, Mr. E. V. Bishop, "Hein Wah" Pirates Ganght. A report from Canton states that three pirates who were alleged to have been concerned in the piracy of the s.s. Hsin Wah have met their

fate by execution. A Chineac military officer who was a passenger on the Hein Wah at the time was. in a Tea House when be noticed the three men whom he recognised as members of the gang who pirated the Hsin Wah. He informed the police who at ance arrested the men. They were subsequently tried and executed.

The "President Taft." The Dollar Liaer President Taft is due to sail for Victoria and Seattle vid porta at 11.00 6.10. to-day, with over 100 first class passengers and approximately 350 steerage. There are aboard a large number of both European and Chinese residents of Hong Kong travelling to Shanghai and Japan, taking advantage of the very at tractive round trip. Summer rates offered.
