Definition of TRAVELLERS' OREQUES-

The system of Travellers' Cheques was originated in 1881 by the Americaï Express Company, with the object of creating a form of travel currency which would give the holder the security of a letter of credit and ifthe same time the convenience of beal currency, The Company registered the EXPRESS cheques under the trade name of "AMERICAN TRAVELERS CHEQUES the word Travellers being spelled with "The advantage of the Cheques was so apparent that other banking institutions adopted the system."
