ONLY MODERATE CARGO TOTALS.

ONLY TWO-BRITISH- -ARRIVALS,-

Only moderate cargo totals were shown in the returns for local im ports and through freights during the 24 hours ended at 9 am yester day. Shipping arrivals dumbered 14 with only two British arrivals and eight departures.

Thirteen vessels discharged 9,720 tops. of general merchandise for this port of which two British ships contributed 1,379 tond. The two best cargo, returns were shown by Danish and Chinese vessels. The sa Bintang (Danish) from Bangkok and Hoihow had 2,481 tons of general cargo and the sa Tuan Lee (Chinese) frout Saigon and Swatow discharged 9,000 tons of rice.

Through freights were also low and totalled 8,000 tons from only four vessels. The best carrier was the .. Tarcea (Dutch) from Batavis and Pondoni with 3,060 tons of general merchandise. The only British through carrier, the 5.3. Benledi from Middlesborough and Manila carried 2,310 tons of general cargo and showed the second

best return.

There were seven persons aboard at the time, and some took to the dinghy while others clung to the wreckage. When they were rescued by a passing junk it was found that one foki was missing.
