JAPAN'S ROYAL WEDDING. BANK FRAUD HUNT.

PRESENTS ARRIVE,

DOWAGER, EMPRESS'S TEA PARTY.

some

It has been decided that the wedding of Prince, Chichibu to Miss Setsu-ko Matsudaira will be solemnized

time between September 25th and October 3rd. No definite date has as yet been selected but this will be settled by the middle of September when it will be nanounced to the nation and, at the same time, to the spirits of the Imperial ancestors by Court ritualists.

The Prince met Miss Matsudaira

for the first time since their engagement at tea given to the young couple by the Dowager Empress who formally introduced them to each other. Besides the Empress Dowager and the betrothed couple, only Mias Matsudaira's mother was present.

Among the gifts that the couple will receive are a table clock from the Emperor and Empress, full suits of Japanese clothes from the Dowager Empress and a jada neck. lace from Marchioness "Nabeshina, aunt of the bride-elect. The foreign communities in Japan are busy pre paring suitable gifts. The Swiss community will give a silver model of the highest peaks of the Alpa, and this is regarded as very appro- priate since Prince Chichibu is as ardent mountaineer and scaled some of the highest Alpine peaks when he was in Europe some time ago. The model, which is 25 centimetres high and 15 centimetres broad, has arrived in Japan,"

The Navy proposes to give them an elaborate silver model of the cruiser Myoko. This is being exe- ented at the Yokosuka arsenal, the model being about 45 inches long and its main mast about 35 inches high.

They did not do so. They went to other banks in West London, fleeced them of about £60,000 in all and few to Brussels in an airplane which they chartered, at Croydon.

His name and description were telegraphed to the Belgian police by Scotland yard, and a reply was received that this man was seen in Brussels soon after the arrival of the Croydon airplane, by which two of the garg travelled.

Richards, who was formerly pilot on the Yangtze River in China and who collected valuable antiques and pictures during his stay in the East, had evidently gone deliberately about the work of des truction. Two letters were found. One id- dressed to Miss Ora Les Redding, 2008 South Alameda Street, owner of the house in which Richards had lived, thanked the girl for nursing his wife during her last illness and said that he wished to bid ber good-by." The other, addressed to Dr. P. B. Richards, 1237, West Ninety-sixth Street, Los Angeles, evidently a relative of the deceased sailor, was found unstamped in the mail box. It stated that Richards intended to end his life and added that he had wrecked his art collec- tion because he did not wish it to pass into the hands of anyone else.

Richarda is believed to have been wealthy and to have left consider- ablo money, besides other property. He came to Glendale a few weeks ago from Burbank, where is he said to have resided at ap apartment- hours and he had formerly lived in Los Angeles for several years. He had been twice married, his second wife dying about, three years ago, An inquest will be held.
