VERY LOW FIGURES FOR

SATURDAY..

RETURNS INCREASE NEXT DAY.

Unusually low cargo returns were shown for the period ending at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Through cargo was just over 2,000 tons, but local imports wäre better. Through cargo increased the next day to good, while local imports remained at about the same figure.

Saturday's Figures. Thirteen arrivals and filteen de partures were shown for Saturday of which four arrivals and seven departures were British ships. Ten Yessels discharged 11,39 tons of cargo for this port, two British ships contributing 1,492 tons. The best carrier had 4,700 tons of general merchandise.

Through freights from five vessels totalled only 2,475 tons and three British ships had 875 tops. The best carrier had 790 tons of general merchandise.

Yesterday's Statement,

seventeen arrivals and twenty one departures the general Cargo for through ports showed an British ships were best increase. cargo carriers, and of the shipping returns eight arrivals and seven departures were British vessels."

Local importa from 14 vessels amounted to 8,315 tons and six British ships had 4,391 tons. The best carrier was the sa Taklira (British) with 1,307 tons from Calcutta and Singapore. The s.. Hung On (Chinese) discharged 1,400

tons.

Ten vessels carried 20,955 tons for through ports, and five British ships were responsible for 3,003 tons. The Fasado Maru was best carrier with 4,568 tons from Calcutta and Singapore; and the 13. Myrtlebank (British) had 4,500 tons from Philadelphia (U.S.A.)

and Manila.

RE-OPENING OF KOWLOON POLICE PIER.

In a notification issued at the Harbour Office dated the tist instant is stated that Tsim Sha Tsui Pier Kowloon is re-opened · to the public.

This notification has been issued by the Public Works Department.

The “President Lincoln."" The President Lincula which ar rived here on Saturday brought 51 cabin and 211 steerage passengera for Hong Kong. Cargo discharged here amounted to 960 tons and there were 820 bags of mails. The Lincoln left Victoria on June 30th and Shanghai on July 18th.

Full Water-Front, There were fourteen West River and Canton steamers lying along. side their wharves at the water front yesterday morning. In several cases two vessels had to be moored alongside each other. None of the masters bad anything to report.

Deaths At Sea.

The s. Antung (British) which arrived here yesterday from Singa- pore and Amoy reports the death of four Asiatic passengers. at sea.

The master of the sa. President Zincoln (American) from Scattle and Shanghai reports that a Chinese steerage passenger named Luo Yin died on the 10th instant. The vessel carried 910- Asiatic passengers.

Asiatic Deck Passengers. Sixteen vesse's brought 2,652 Asiatic deck passengers to the | Colony during the week-end.

SHIPPING MOVEMENTS.

The .v. Malayan Prince, from New York, sailed from Shanghai on the afternoon of the 20th inat., and was expected to arrive hore to-day at daylight.

The N.DL ms. Fulda, from Europe, left Singapore on July 20th for Hong Kong vid Manila, and is expected to arrive here on July 28th. She will sail for Shang~| hai, Taku, Dalny and Tsingtao on July 20th.
