MODERATE IMPORTE
GOOD THROUGH CARGO,

The general cargo returns for Hong Kong during the 24 hours ended it 9 mm, were only moderate. Through cargo however was over 20,000 tons. British ships figured amongst the best cargo carriers.
Shipping returns were also fair with only sixteen arrivals and the same number of departures.'
Eleven vessels discharged general merchandise for this port which amounted to 19,177 tons. For British vessels contributed 4,427 tons The best return was shown by the .. Tjitaruen (Dutch) with 1,500 tons of general cargo from Sourabaya and Balikpapan. The 3.5. Kwongse (British) also dis- charged 1,718 tons from Dairen.
Through freight carried by eleven vessels totalled 92,036 tons. Five British ships carried 6,833 tans, and the best cargo carrier was the ss. Dardanus (British) with 3,684 tons of general cargo from | Liverpool and Singapore. The s.. Agra (Swedish) was second best car- ¦ rier with 4,000 tons from Gotenburg and Singapore.

It was stated that the defendant was towing a heavily leaden junk at the time, and a collision was narrowly averted.
