Raincoats seem to get gayer and moro attractive every season. It does not seem long ago that the first mackintosh appeared in bright colours, and yet big strides have been made since those days, when amac even if scarlet was still a rather dowdy and ungraceful

To-day velvet, linen, crêpe de chine, and leather have been press ed into service to make coate which are as chic na an overcoat or an afternoon frock.

One good piece deserves an other," is the advertising slogan of the makers of "Jacobean" glass. It is a good slogan because it ex- presses exactly what the purchaser of the new table glass feels. If you start with a set of tumblers of that delightful squat round variety, you are sure to feel first that you need a jug to match them, and next that grape fruit bowls, or a a salad bowl, vases, or a jardinière, would be a delightful accompani ment 1 looked over Lane, Crawford's collection

ol "Milwater" macintoshes the other day and found many charming and original models among them,

First of all the silk ones as they are the most generally useful in this climate. Beige is collared and cuffed with tubar, and has a deep facing back of the same which is equally smart if the coat be worn loosely open or with the storm collar fitted snugly up. A lovely shot claret has a deeper tone for collar and belt. Very smart is a light weight 'mae of crushed straw- berry with its pearly grey trim. mings, and I liked another one trimmed with grey which was clear cinnamon brown. Tabac silk has a very smart callar, cuffs and belt of scarlet patent leather, and gold. buttons.

Grey satin is used for a raid coat which would not disgrace the very smartest out door affair, and the coats that are made of proofed velvet are very pretty indeed, I thought one in moss green charm- ing. White rubber is used for two other coats. One is thin and lighti and has bands of pink ou collar and cuffs, and the other, almost as thick as leather, gains great chie from the crenelated bands of bright green leather which trim collar, cuffs and front.

Checks and spots figure in most of the latest designs for printed silks, but not plainly and unadorned. Patterns are arranged in squares, or contain spots as marked fea-

Jacobean glass was put on the market, it looks equally pretty on damask or a bare tabic and you can see that it is exquisitely clean. Another great advantage is that there is a standard pattern, so that

BEAUTIFUL ARMS.

REMEDIES FOR PLUMPNESS

Unless you are the tenth woman,

Unsuspected Lack Of Exercise... Are your arms to plump to con form to the strict rules of beauty It's because you don't use them enough. Really!" ejaculates the woman who is working all day and dancing part of the night Not use them enough! You must be thinking of society favourites or in- valida."

But it is a fact all the same. Hard though we women may work through, every working day, unless we are doing something which calls for the constant exercise of the arm muscles we do not use them enough to keep them pliant and the circu lation working freely.

An Easy Solution.

And we can't be bothered with dull exercise; besides, we haven't time! But we could go and play ball with the children at times in the garden. Or use a skipping rope when no one is looking. The too lean as well as the toolat condition can be eradicated in time by anch simple possesses.

Olive Oil For Lean Arma. Too-lean arms (and this is nearly always the trouble with really un- lovely ones) can be helped to a nice plumpness by a little massage, pre- ferably after the bath. Warm olive oil is the best medium for massage. Just a little of the oil in a cup, which can stand for a few moments in a basin of hot water, and then a gentle rotary movement all up the arms, gradually-from wrists to

shoulders. The oil can be removed with amall, swabs of cotton wool after it has remained on the skin for ten minutes.

Some house- maids have arms which, society women might well: envy.
