“You know, it is a marvel in organization how a fleet of 17 immense President Liners can be handled with such efficiency and positive dependability! One week a President sails for Victoria, B. C. and Seattle via the Short Route, and the next week one to San Francisco and Los Angeles via Honolulu. Every two weeks a President sails for the Straits, Colombo, via Suez to the Mediterranean, direct to New York, Boston and California. And every few days one of them sails Interport. That's what. I call real steamship service.”

SWALLOW FLIES
ATLANTIC.
PARIS. The flight across the Atlantic from cast to west and from west to eset has been accomplished by a swallow.
Last autumn a résident of St. Avold, near Metz, captured a swál- low and placed a note under its wing which read as follows: "Dür- ing the summer of 1997 I lived with Mons. A. R. at St. Avold, France. Give me a new address anying where I pass the winter."
The swallow, was recaptured recently at its old nest at St. Avold, and attached to its wing was found a tiny tube containing s message which read: "I spent the winter with Joseph, Bady at Martinique in the West Indice, and I am charged with transmitting to my summer landlord his very beet wishes."
