HONG KONG RACES.

SECOND DAY OF FIFTH EXTRA MEETING.

ONE THIRD BADLY TROUNCED BY PECK..

MR. CLARK.WINS THREE RACES.

[BY EARLY BIRD.}

THE HONG KONG DAILY PRESS, TUESDAY, MAY 29th, 1928.

The second day of the 8th Extra Race Meeting of the Hong Kong Jockey Club was concluded yesterday and the meeting was a success from every point of view. The principal surprise at the meeting was the defeat of One Third by Mr. Hynes and Mr. Mackie's pony Peck. I am firmly of the opinion that this over mated" elongated, specimen of a pony is "a stinker." Peck, cleverly ridden by Mr. Clark, forced Wong to push his mount before he came. into the straight. There is no doubt that Clark had his measure to a nicety. It is quite plain that this poby has a yellow streak... otherwise how can we account for his reversal of form compared with his meritorious performance at the last meeting when he ran away with the rase in good time, beating 'badly the pony who reversed the decision on him to-day. I consider Mr. Hynes and Mr. Mackle are sporting gentlemen in every sense of the word for pitting their pony against another whose reputation was far in excess of their own contender on the performance of the pair when last opposed to each other.

I must congratulate Mr. Clark for his fine performance in Each pony had to be. winning three races out of four starta ridden yery hard before commencing his race. Mr. Clark, I am told, is a perfect sportsmen in a race.

Although the rain kept off the brack was far from being in Most of the a condition conducive to fast and reliable times. ponies found it very difficult to run any thing near their proper form which had the effect in many cases of cramping their style and causing a defeat which on a fast track would have been almost inossible.
