carrying cargoes for ports beyond the Colony, of which two were British vessels. The bulk of the cargo from fifteen arrivals was for Hong Kong. There were six- teen departures during the period in question.

Through freights carried by three vessels totalled 10,519 tons, and two British vessels contributed 8,579 ton* The ss. Takliwa (British) showed the best return with 4,833 tons of general cargo from Calcutta and Singapore The 8.8. Venepior (Italian) carried 4,040 tons from Yokohama and Shanghai.

Breach Of Licence Gonditions. Leung Shau Muk, master of a was summoned for cargo boat, breach of his cargo boat licence by carrying passengers other than re- quired for the purpose of handling cargo, on the 6th instant. L/Bengt. Goldsmith prosecuted and the de- fendant pleaded guilty to the charge. A fine of $23 with the alternative of three weeks bird labour was imposed.

Asiatic Deck Passengers. Asiatic deck passengers arriving in the Colony during the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday numbered 1,078. These passengers were car- ried by nine restels of which the as Tokliwa (British) brought 730 passengers.
