YESTERDAY'S FREIGHT

RETURNS.

INCREASE IN GENERAL -CARGO,

TWENTY-TWO ARRIVALS.

General cargo returns which have lately been on the small side showed marked increase. There were twenty-two arrivals and eleven de partures, during the period ending at 9 a.m. yesterday.

Twenty Tesse's discharged cargo for Hong Kong, while fourteen vessels had cargo for through porta. The general cargo discharged for this port amoanted to 4,791 tons, of which 4,101 ton were contributed by five British vessels. Two Japan- ese vessels headed the list as best carriers. The as Amagisan Maru had 5,500 tons of limestone frora Point Redor, and the ss. Mikage Juru from Sagayo and Skita dis- charged 3,500 tons of coal.

Through freights were very high and totalled 30,483 tona Five British vessels carried 9,330 tons. The 3.5. Knight Companion (British) topped the list best carrier with 6,000 tons from Swan- sea and Singapore. The s.s. Celebes Mare from Bombay and Singapore also carried 5,380 tons of general

cargo.

Ten boat people. appeared before Comdr. J. B. Newill as the Marine Court yesterday morning for breaches of Harbour regulations. Obstruction charges against a steers- man" and a mistress of two cargo boats were adjourned until to-day pending the evidence of the master of the 1.1. Kwong Tung.
