INFORMATION IN ADMIR- ALTY BLUE-BOOK.
AMERICA'S HUGE DESTROYER ( AND SUBMARINE STRENGTH.

The annual record of the Fleets of the world has been presented to Parliament by the First Land of the Admiralty, and is published in the form of a Blue-book. It son tains accurate and up-to-date in formation regarding the fleets of the British Empire, United States, Japan, France, Italy, Germany, and the Soviet Union,
The particulars, which are cor- rected up to as late as February 1st of this year, deal with all veszek | aflent and under construction, in cluding battleships, battlecruisers, cruisers, cruiser-mine-layeta, 27m- oured const defence vessels and monitors, aircraft carriers, flotilla Jeaders, destroyers torpedo-boats, submarines, sloops, coastal motor boats, gunboats, despatch vessels, river gunboats, and minesweepers.
A close analysis of these returne yields interesting statistical in- formation on the disposition of the world's navies. The first outstand ing fact is that there is not a single battleship or battle-cruiser under construction at presens in the whole world.
The world total of battleships afloat is 67, distributed as follows: United States, is; British Em pire, 18; Japan, 6; France, ; Italy, a; Russia, $; and Germany, There are only eight battle cruisers in the world-four British and four Japanese.
The number of cruisers afloat on February 1st was 159, of which the British Empire daimed 49, the United States 33, Japan 33, Frame

U.S. Destroyer Supremacy. The American supremacy in the destroyer classes, as shown by the ancial figures, is overwhelming, the United States destroyer feet being nearly as great as those of the whole combined.
The world total of destroyers is given as 776, of which the United states possing 300, Britain 130, Japan 114, France 45, Italy 64, Russia 77, and Germany 17.
The number of destroyers being built is very small. There are 54 el France leading with 19, Japan is building 12, Germany 12, British Empire 8, and Italy 3. America is building no more destroyers at pre- sent
The submarine figures are per- haps, the most interesting. Of the world total of 354, the Americans account for 121, the British number is 65 Japan 65, France 44 Italy 45, Hussin 24. Germany has no subroutines.
An examination of the submarine construction now being carried out gives some astonishing results. Britain is building 12, America 3, Japan 12, Italy 18, and Russia and Germany none. France, however, has no fewer than 46 submarines the slips at present When the pre- sent French sad British submarine programmes are completed France will have 90 submarines to Britain's €7.
Italy, curiously enough, leads the world in the number of coastal motor boats and minesweepers.. Of a grand total of 167 motor boats, Italy possesses 132, while she has ninesweepers, against Britain's 31.
Projected Programmes. In the section of the return deal- ing with the projected building pro- grammes of the Great Powers, there are no battleships or battle-cruisers. There are, however, 35 cruisers contained in the world programme for the next two or three years No fewer than 2 of these will be laid down by the United States, while
