An unexpected result in the semi-finals of the English Cup matches on Saturday was the draw, at two goals each, between Huddersfield and Sheffield United. On their League form Hudders feld were expected to win, but the opposition gave them a great game and both teams live to fight again another day. Blackburn Rovers eliminated the London team, Arsenal, by the only goal," scored for them by J. Rostamp, and are now in the final.
In the Scottish Cup semi-finals, Celtic" (holders) defeatedeingle, but as Oxford could only Queen's Park by the odd goal in three, and the'm opponents in the final are the Rangers, who had a comfortable victory over the. Hibernians.
In Division I. of the English League, Cardiff were badly beaten by West Ham Everton, second on the table, were forced to a draw by Derby, a team far down the table. The most important match in the Second Division was that between Chelsea and Man- chester City, won by the latter by the only goal scored. The same team still lead in all Divisions.

Motherwell, who won in mid-weck, shared two goals with Bo'ness in a Scottish League match and are now at the top of the table.

The Arst of the triangular rugby matches in which Army, Navy and Civilians will take part was played off at the Happy Valley on Satur- day between the Royal Navy XV and the Hong Kong Football Club team. The Navy won by 10 points to s points (1 goal) after a very keenly contested game.

Stobart (Am matches, the only really big win broar), E.R.A. Davies (mbrose), was on the Oxford side, shows that Lieut. Gaisford (Titania), A.B. Cox (Ambrose), Signalman Evans Lambridge had to fight for it.

The match between Halifax and Lindsell is, I believe, a definite firture, and this year, "at least, gave something, to, talk about for the next 12 months, as it ended in a nat. Lindsell is not really quite as bal as that, but he is not a very frequent golfer. It was a level match all through, with Cambridge just one ahead at the turn.
Wood and Syme Thompson are ako definite pair, I think, but this time Wood had all the fun. From what I can gather, il Syme Thompson was just off the green be stayed off, and nothing would pereunde his ball go`on...
Oxford Down.
At the outset, the Navy attacked work to keep them out. Play con tinued to and for until, after serum, a mistake on the part of the Club forwards resulted in the Navy drawing first blood. After a bout of fine passing, the ball was sent along the Navy Three quarter line to Rothwell. He dodged two defenders and after a fine swerving ran from mid-field he scored well out E.R.A. Davies converted with well-judged kick.
The Navy kept up their good work for some time but the game was taken out of their hands after some faulty handling.
Lammert then came to the Club's rescue. As the ball was passing from one Naval man to another, Lammert amartly nipped in and

The Navy renewed their efforts with vigour. Campbell, Rothwell and Stobart being prominent. Lt. Davies made an excellent attempt for a dropped goal, but he failed. A serum followed and this was fol- lowed by open play when the Navy made another determined attack on the Club. They pressed so hard that the Club was driven back inch by inch until & try was conceded. Paddon converted and this brought the Navy 5 points up.
