NO KISSING IN PEKING'S FILMS.

Kissing is to be banned by the Peking film censors. Notice al

ready has been served on the show houses Whether the rule will be enforced is another matter. Nego tiation was invented in China.

If the lip is not permitted to per- form its poetic function in the films see here, Peking may as well de- mand a complete renovation of the celluloid standards. Honeyed ex pressions, the words love, dear, darling, sweetheart, and associated ideas should be ruled out. The slogan of the censor could very well be: If the publée likes it, cut it out."

If they intend to take the kiss out of the films they may as well remove it from the daily round of life, and that would be nice! X.C. Standard,

From Chicago it is announced officially that it was the Chicago TJIKEMBANG and Boston committees of the Women's Home Missionary Society,TJIPANAS and not the society as a whole. TJISALAK which were responsible for the can-JILEROET cellation of the engagements for TJIBAROEA lectures by Miss Royden.

"While ALE American Christian women we deplore the practice of smoking," declares the Women's Home Missionary Society in statement which has been issued, "we could not presume to judge the integrity of the religious life of such a woman as Miss Royden. The lecture engagements were can- rolled by the local committees at Chicago and Boston."-British United Press.

Christianity And Drink. Miss Gunter, an intimate friend of Miss Maude Royden, told an Brening Standard representative to-day that Miss Royden's position is that while she would regard: excessive drunkenness as immoral, she does not recognise tectotalism as essential to Christianity."
