HONG KONG ANNUAL RACE MEETING.

YESTERDAY'S AUSPICIOUS OPENING.

THE DUNBAR STABLE'S SUCCESS.

A DAY OF THRILLS.

[BY RAPIER.}

The conditions were ideal for racing at the opening of the Annual Race Meeting at Happy Valley yesterday. The going was a bit on the heavy side for the first three races but the Course quickly dried up under the influence of a strong sun. His Excellency the Governor, Sir Cecil Clementi, was present, also H.E. Vice- Admiral Sir Reginald Tyrwhitt and H. E. Major-General O. C. Luard, and many other distinguished people. The dividends were moderate with the exception of the return of Sons. 10 given by Little Tit Sang and $191,60 paid by Bakers Bay. There were only two tickets taken on the former pony in the Members' enclosure and those connected with its stable did not proft by the win. The cash sweeps swelled as the afternoon wore on and were much above normal after the fourth race.

THE MOST SUCCESSFUL STABLE.

The Dunbar stable was the most successful with four wins and one second to its credit. The four subs in Mr. Harold Seth's 'stable rewarded his care and attention by getting one win and three rinces,

On the whole the starting was, good and Mr. Fiddes Wilson has got the right iden as those who try to bent him are not success- ful in doing so. There were many improvements in the general arrangements and it is obvious that the Officials can be relied upon to keep pace with the growth of the Club's activities.

Racing seribes are privileged to comment upon their tips but this is, of course, only done when the results justify it.

In the first, third, fourth, seventh, tenth and eleventh races I selected the winners and in the fourth and last races I named the correct order of the first three ponies home..

Triumph For Charles.
