The most interesting, things in most of the shops now are the gar ments designed for the race season. One of the striking features of Lane, Crawford's collection of race frocks is the prevalence of the jumper type. We have come to con sider & jumper as an essential of a sports ensemble but it is new to see this line emphasised on smart afternoon gowns. The reason is the gradual lifting of the waist line, for nearly all these jumpers have either a belt, a trimming, or are so cut as to lift the eye to the normal waist. A very charming
