passenger steamer, Tutarum, which STRAITS & CALOUTTA... "LAISANG " left Bombay an Saturday morning, encountered heavy seas and while returning to port foundered sud- SANDAKAN denly, due to a strong cyclone) which she ran into 60 miles off Bombay, in 42 feet of water.

She was carrying 89 passengers, and the crew comprised 54.

A search steamer, which was sent out returned early this morning. She brought back only 18 passengers and members of the crew, and re- ported that dead bodika were wash- ed up on the coast and the ship was found sunk in 42 feet of water, seven miles of the port of 'Hare- shwar, on the coast.

Little hope is entertained of more survivors being found

Fear For Second Steamer. Another steamer, the Jayanti, be- donging to the Bombay Sto Navigation Company sailed on Saturday morning at the same time for Dabol and another port on the West Coast, with passengers and crew numbering over -100.

She is now three days overdne and has not been heard of since her departure.

BOMBAY, Nov. 15th. Further details of the Tukuram disaster give the casualties as 125.

The passengers were all Indiane, Hindus and Moslems.

The Jaynati is still missing. The "search (vessel Kupavait re- turned this morning without sews of the missing vessel.

The Hupayat's captain reported that he fhund' the wreckage of the Tukuram and a large number of bodies.

Another boat, the Kemelavati, has been sent to search for the Jayanti.

The wreck of the Tukaram was found.00 miles south of Bombay.

The corpses of the captain and chief officer have been identified.

Five survivors were brought back to Bombay.

Struck By Huge Waves. Interviewed, they said that the boat was returning to Bombay on Saturday evening and at seven o'clock huge wave struck her violently and she tilted dangerous- ly Another giant wave followed and the vessel was virtually swal lowed up by the sea within at minute.
