"THE ROT SETS IN.” At this period Pearce had sub- stituted Brace and. Hankey for Dobbie and Wales and the double change did very wel. Whitley was brilliantly taken by Wales low down, within about 10 feet from his bat. Jordan tried to hook a short one, and skied the ball behind the wicket keeper and Dale raced back, and, as usual, caught it. Hankey then, who up to this point had not been bowling as well as usual, took a hand in the proceedings and bowl Led Lewis. He thereafter tempted Rix into having a dip and Wales took a high watch at deep square leg which he obviously had all the way. (98-10-19).

A LITTLE GINGER IN IT.

Lewis never seemed to get going and he was not fighting the bail as well as he has done before. Rix at the end had a couple of wickets cheaply. Braddell was off-colour. I hear that. Whitley has hurt his shoulder and can't bowl. Bad luck, if true, for though he is not a Shofforth be very often gets & "useful wicket or two.

Barrett and had Smith playing in. place of Allison, required twelve runs to win with three wickets in hand when time intervened, but Kowloon had declered with two: wickets in hand to give the visitors a chance.

The Hong Kong team work was excellent. It was no blind wicket partnership with plenty of logging but an excellent judgment lively hitting was put up by Quayle in picking the right ball to hit (57) and Leach (66 not out).
