Twenty-six vessels arrived Hong Kong during the 24 hours ended at 9 am yesterday: Fice came in ballast, but nevertheless freights for the Colony and for other ports were heavy,

Fifteen steamers discharged. here, The total amount of merchandise unloaded was 19,634 tons. Five British ships contributed a total of 5,484 tone. The two best returns were shown by the ss. cichow and the Michael Jebsen. The former came from Wethaiwei with 2.70 tons, and the latter, from Bangkok with 2,600 tons.

Fifteen vessels had 25,788 tons of through cargo. German ships were the heaviest carriers, the Sachsen | with 4,500 tons from Foochow and the Sapie Rickmers, with 4,280 tons from Hamburg and Manila.

COMPRADORE.

A report was made to the Police by a passenger who arrived in the Colony yesterday from Singapore on the 8.5. Laeng to the effect that during the voyage he had entrusted $1,230 in money and a gold wrist watch to the Assistant compradore of the ship for safe keeping. When the vessel arrived hore the assistant went ashore and had not been seen since.
