THE HONG KONG DAILY PRESS, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27th, 1927.

When I apponded a pote to my list of the sides for this match on Monday at that I thought a draw would result I could, not, tell that the wicket would be a bad one. As a natter of fact it was playing badly all the time but it must be remembered that it was pitched well off the middle of the ground. This is inevitable in trials if we are going to get enough decent middle pitches for, the heavy work of in Interport fortnight. I may also have dattered the batting ability, of the sides at, the expense of the bowlers.

The Nayy won the toss and batted first but things went horribly. Mel some bowled uncommonly well and they were Sdown for 37 runs. But for agallant inaings by Dale and B stand by Shaw utter disaster would have resulted, Dale, however, play, ed the right game and went for the bowling. He hit two beautiful sixes, and only succumbed when Dobbie went on again, and after collecting an invaluable 01. 1 Am afraid I didn't see the innings and cannot be more particular. I gather though that Melsome might have come off a bit earlier. It looks like it as he got his first five wickets in

as under:

K.O.S.BL..... 9 Scots Guards... N.A.

2 R.A.E... K.O.S. Ba.. SCOTS GUARDS. The Guards

were unlucky in losing this at Sookunpoo. The gift of a goul in the closing minutes enables the KO.S.B to gather both points.

A keen game was witnessed and over keenness caused the referee to call a hair on several occasious and to exution the players concern ed. hard knocks were given and taken.

The Guards had the advantage when the ball was in the air, but the K.0.3.Bs. put in eume very good ground work.

The first goal came th the K.O.S. Bs. after five minutes' play. Stock took a pass from Davey and lefs Jackson struding with a fast

low shot.

The teanis crossed over equal and both sides put plenty of vim jato the game. Anderson did well in gpal for the K.O.S.B., while at the other end. Rev. Alexander kepti worrying the defence and occasion- ally giving Jackson a shot to clear. When the game appeared to be eading in a draw, the K.O.S.B1. took the lead through Humphries who snapped up the ball following a goal kick and before Jacksou could recover, the bail was in the net.

With a couple of minutes to go. the Guards attacked strongly but the defence held out, the K.D.S.B1. winning by two goals to one.

R.A.4. R.A.F.

Playing on the U.S.R.C. ground at Kowloon the R.A. beat the B.A.F. by two goals to one. The teams lined up as follows with Mr. Phillips as the referee:-
