RACING NOTES.

(BY RAPIER.]

H.E. Jockey Club 6th Extra Race Meeting.

1

As will be seen from the list given below the entries for the above Meeting on October 8th and 10th are very good. Most of the ponies have benefited by the rest during the summer months and practically all of them should face the starter. Training times will be published by me on Thursday and Monday morn ings respectively until the Meeting. Mr. C. M. S. Alves is continuing his onerous duties as Handicapper and it would be hard to find anyous more fitted for this thankless task. I have heard the opinion expressed that handicaps should be made solely on previous performances which means that the Handicaprer should ignore the condition of the ponies and contine himself purely to paper work. In practice this is very unsound as somas ponies im prove out of all-recognition while others simply fade away. A know- ledge of the condition of the ponies in invaluable and the Handicapper's regular presence at the early morn ing training is the only way to ensure good results,
