TRAWLING IN MALAYA.

MR. MAXWELL'S VIEWS ON DEEP SEA WORK.

Mr. Charleton Maxwell," whose knowledge of Malayan fishes and sheries, both riverine and marine, is certainly second to none, writes to the Straits Echo contesting the opinion expressed by Mr. R. J. B. Clayton, in an interview recently with a representative of the Straits, Times, that deep-sea trawling in Malayan waters would never be a commercial proposition...

Premising that the Government's experimental vessel, the Tongkol, has not yet fished in depths over 50 fathoms, Mr. Maxwell suggests that the deep sea "holes" around our coasts, possibly the most pro life of all grounds, have yet to ba explored.
