NORTH AND SOUTH CONSIDERING

PROPOSAL MADE BY THE SOUTH.
L
NORTHERNERS WOULD WELCOME A TRUCE ON CERTAIN CONDITIONS.
MRS. BORODIN'S RELEASE CAUSES A
FLUTTER AMONG PEKING AUTHORITIES.
An armistice, proposed by the South and evidently favourably considered by the North to whom it was made, is the most important development of China's civil strife.
Obviously the Bouth finds the close proximity of the Hankow troops to Nanking together with their own undertakings north of the Yellow River as somewhat too much at the present juncture.
The North, still longing for Shansi's Governor to act B mediator between the North and South, is, of course in no way, averse from inclining to a cassation of hostilities,
The probability is that shortly there will be a stoppage to the fighting in Shantung and perhaps joint action of Southerners and Fengtiencse against the "Red" menace of Hankow.
