RETURNS.
NORMAL FREIGHTS BUT LOW
-ENTRIES.
The freight returns for the 24 hours ended at 9 am, yesterday slowed that both local and through cargoes were normal, although the number of vessels arriving was. low.

The Colony's imporis amounted to 9,641 tons. Of these, 3,800 tons were rice. General merchandise carried by British vessels amounted to 1,558 tons, The best return was shown by the 8.8. President Jefferson, From

Tongting Fog Siren, The following notice to mariners has been issued by the Marine Department of the Maritime Cus tons. at Shanghai, under date Juno 20th Notice is hereby given that a new frst order fog siren has been established at the Fongting Light station at the site of the former reed fog signal. The siren, which will he sounded during foggy or thick weather on and after July 3rd, 1927, will give three linats of equal pitch, and each of 2 seconds dura tion, every 13 minutes, thus: Blast 2 seconds; Silence 3 seconds; Blast 2 seconds; Silence 3 seconds, Blust 2 seconds; Silence 75 seconds."
