ALBANIAN

PRESIDENT DESIRES A THRONE.

Ahmed Bey Zogu, President of the Republic of Albania, has intro- duced the elaborate etiquette of a Spanish royal Court into his life in the palace. He is surrounded by courtiera, Russian emigrds in aplendid." uniforms He and his Court are thus welt guarded...

It is surmised from these facts that Ahmed Zogu wishes to be pro- claimed King of Albania, and it is believed that Italy would sup- port that desire.

Ahmed Bey Zogu, an Albanian who lived for some time in Bel- grade, was a noted and dashing leader in Albanian rebellions. His followers in the revolt of 1021, against the rule of Fan Noli, were armed with the latest types of rifles, machine guns, and mountain guns. Fan Noli, who was then defeated, led an unsuccessful counter-revolt against Abmed Zogu last November.
