FORTHCOMING INTERPORT

MATCH.

LEAGUE CRICKET.

THE HONG· KONG DAILY PRESS, FRIDAY, MARCH 18th, 1927.

somewhat revised for this week-end Cricket League fixtures have been

in order to make provision for the annual fixture between the Winners and The Rest on March 28th.

Thu Kowloon Cricket Club will meet the Royal Artillery on Satur day in the former's last match of the season and should Kowloon win or draw their match, they will be undisputed champions.

The I.R.C. match has been put off.

I am informed that an invitation from the Shanghai Cricket Club to send up an Interport Team this spring has been received by the H.K.C.C. The invitation is, of course, contingent upon the trend of affairs politically, and I under: 0.8.0.0. e. Hong Kong 0:0. stand that, yet, no netani date

This lat Division League game has been fixed. Usually the side will be played on the C.S.C.C. leaves about the second week in ground at 9 p.m. to-morrow, May, or a little later, and returns CS.C.C.-R. D. Erans (capt.), somewhere about the end of that. R. Sayer, F. J. de Rome, E. W month.

The question of the composition of our side was discussed the other evening by several reasonably good judges of form. I do not think there were more than älteen differ. ent names put down among all the lists, which were made out separate, ly and then compared. For a side of twelve, I personally fancied Pearce, Hayward, Owen Hughes, Sayer, Bowker, Goodwin, Ramsey. Brace, Capt Dobbie, Llout. Huat, R.M., Capt. Evers, and Capt. E. W. Morris. am assuming that none of our visiting troops will be eligible either here or in Shanghai. Of this twelve it would depend largely on the form shown at the tune to who should stand down. Hunt is a newcomer, but as he is Tamar he is eligible, and so he is good enough to turn out for Gloucester- shire, he may possibly be worth his place! We have in this side three really useful bowlers in Bowker, Goodwin and Dohbie. Sayer Braco and Evers are all good changes, while Morris" haa been known to take wickets. The weak spot is, of course, the lack of a left hander: Here I should mention that Vallack is going home on leave and won't be available, Owen Hughes, how ever, though he has absolutely lost his length this season, nearly a ways howls well in Shanghi doubt if Wales is good enough as a left hander to balance his-hall say uncertainty-with the bat. believe Hunt bowls too but I don't know enough of his game to any This team is a very strong batting. side as well, while during the last Interport Pearce showed that he is quite equal to the work behind the sticks. Hansey in case of need could understudy him. The fielding of this side on the whole should be excellent too.

COUNTY CRICKET.

THE NEW SYSTEM OF SCORING.

THROUGH REUTER'S AGENCY.]

LONDON, March 18th. The Marylebone Cricket Club Committee has conarmed the new system of scoring for County cricket, this to be effective in the farth coming season.

A previous message summarised the system as follows: Eight win in a completed points for a match; should a match be uncem leading on the first innings and pleted then five points to the side three to their opponents. In the first innings four pointa be given to creat of a tie or no resalt on the each side, provided in the second actual play had taken place. When case that not less than six hours

The Recreio as newcomers to the League are to be congratulated on a very successful Braz season.

The R.A.O.C. trounced the the Civil Service soundly. Walker play-

The Club polished off the Gunners fairly easily as I expected. I did not think Vallack was bowling as well as usual for his first two, or three overs but he was lucky to get Smith taken fairly deep at square leg by the coolie fielding sub for Parker. (I think by the way that a good many of us might take a les son from the way the said coalie goes in for fielding practice 1) After that he never looked back and had 8 for 27a fine "performance as I doubt if the wicket was helping him very much. Hayward for the Club played a nice knock,
