RETURNS.

INCREASE IN

LOCAL AND THROUGH CARGOES.

The amount of general cargo brought into the Colony and car for ports beyond Hong Kong during the 24 hours ended at 8 am. yesterday, showed a slight increase as compared with the returns of the low previous days.

There were 11,685 tons of general merchandise discharged here, of which 3,15 tons were brought by three British steamers. The two best returns were 5,000 tons brought by the Dutch vessel Oostkerk from Bremen and Manila, and 970 tous by the Ewangtung (British) from Bangkok.

1 arrival departures; French, Italian, 1 arrival.

There were 76 yessels in port yesterday, of which, 37 were British.
