While the imports of general merchandise into the Colony yester-L day had returned to the normal, freights for ports beyond Hong Kong showed a heavy increase, with Japanese vessels carrying most of the cargo.

Out of the twenty steamers arriving hare during the 24 hours ended at 9 am yesterday, Afteen vessel discharged here. The total tonnage of general cargo imported into the Colony was 19,024 tons, of which, only 1,500 tons were brought by one British steamer.

The two best returns were
brought by the Swedish steamer Canton, from Gothenburg and Singapore, and 1,800 tons from Saigon by the 25. Albert Sarraut. In addition to general merchan diso discharged here, there were also 3,020 tons of coal brought into the Colony by the Japanese vessel Tsurugitan Maru from Dairen..
The motor ship Tungsha, of the Norwegian Africa and Australia Line, will leave Singapore on the 5th inst., and is expected to arrive here on the 30th inst, with general cargo from Norway vid

There were also 1,500 tons of cool, in addition to general cargo, for ports beyond. These were on board the s.6. Trurugisan | Maru, from

During the same period there i were 20 arrivals and 10 departures Their nationalities were:--Britisa, 6 arrivals and 9 departures; Japan- esz, 6 arrivals and 3 departures; Norwegian, 1 departure; Chinese, 14 arrivals and 2 departures; Dutch,: 1 arrival and 2 departures; Erench, 2. azrivals; American, 1 departure; Swedish, 1 arrival and 1 departure. There were 64 vessels in port up to nine o'clock yesterday morning, of which, 23 were British.
