HEAVY THROUGH CARGO.
BRITISH STEAMERS CARRY
GOOD FREIGHTS.
While local imports of general merchandise remain normal, through treights manifested on the vessels arriving here during the 4 hours ended at 9 mm. yesterday showed a considerable increase. Of the gene
ral cargo landed here, over to per cant. were discharged from British
steamers.
Imports of general cargo into the Colony were unloaded from 14
vessels out of the 21 arrivals. Tho total amount discharged was 12,880 tins, of which, 7,828 tons were from
Vessels Expected, etc.

7 British bottoms. The heaviest comuensterland (Hamburg-Amerika tributor was the British steamer Line), dus January 23rd, day- Mau Sang from Sandakan, which brought 3,200 tons.
Through freights carried by à steamers, amounted to 30,416 tone. This was an increase of almost 150 per cent, over the previous day's return Of the total tonnago mani- ferted, three British vessois wera responsible for 5,190 tons.
The three beat returns were made by the Danish steamer Denmark, the sukr, (German) and the Jachaon (British). The first named vessel arriving from Copenhagen nad Singapore carried 11,000 tons, the Ruhr had 6,700 tons from Ham- burg and the last named steamer from Birkenhead and Singapore had 5,000 tons.
